Every year, Government spends billions of dollars in pharmaceutical industry in India. These funds are usually for stocking up medicines and equipment’s for government hospitals. Introducing Blockchain to this ecosystem will provide more visibility and accountability of the stock that are floating in the hospitals. There are concerns where same medicine comes with different names resulting in various errors, inconsistency and incompleteness. Drug traceability is another big problem that can be tracked between drug manufacturers, hospital and patients. It can also be used to verify and secure drug product information important for tackling issues like unaccounted stock and to fight against drug counterfeit which sometimes may cost someone’s life.
